This year, our Many McGee's vball team has been having sooooo much fun. We really do have a lot of fun playing together.
Last night we played the late game, 8:30 p.m. For a bunch of "old" people, that is really late. At that time of night, we don't play at our best and we don't always act "normal." For example, last night Tom giggled....during the middle of a play.
It is quite normal for our team to carry on conversations with each other while the ball is in play. It is also normal for us to talk to the other team off and on during the game. And we definitely laugh during our games. But I'm pretty sure that this is the first time one of the guys has giggled during a game.
It made me smile.
The other team sent a light free ball over the net. Tom and I were in the front row and the ball was right between us. Normally, I have the second ball. So I thought Tom would take it. But Tom thought since it was a nice light free ball, I would take it and set him up in two hits. And sadly, neither of us communicated during this play.
Well, I stepped back, let Tom gently pass it to me, I gave him a nice set and as he was going up to hit the ball, he giggled.
"Did you just giggle?" I asked.
"Yep." Tom replied.
"Why?"
"Because I wasn't sure what we were doing."
Sometimes, that is how our games go. We're not sure what we are doing.
